Dr. Elrod received his B.S. degree in Biology from Carroll College in 1983.He graduated from The University of Washington School of Medicine in 1987.Upon graduation he was awarded the Margaret H. O’Donnell prize in psychiatry.Scott completed his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Washington in 1991.He was appointed Chief Resident for his final year.Between 1991 and 1997 Dr. Elrod had a private practice in Missoula.From 1997 until 2012 he was the Medical Director for the Western Montana Mental Health Center.He has maintained faculty relationships with the University of Montana and the University of Washington for the last 15 years.In practice, Dr Elrod has maintained equal interest in the biological management of mental illness problems utilizing medications and their psychological management utilizing psychodynamic psychotherapy.
